Semantics in time (historical) is one of the lexical semantic methods in the holy texts, which by identifying the components of the word, examines the specific concept throughout history and shows its evolutions, ups and downs. The concept of Satan has changed throughout history and has a long-standing connection with the holy texts. The use of the word "devil" in Pishatohid is related to concepts such as evil, jinn, evil spirits, which are intertwined with the function of evil and filth. In the Abrahamic religions of Christianity, Judaism and Islam, Satan was recognized as a creature from the fallen divine position. The lexical application of this concept in the holy texts, with various characteristics of intelligent, experimental, benevolent, concrete and abstract dual status, indicates the interaction of the believers of these texts with heterogeneous civilizations and its metamorphosis. In the meantime, the Qur'an tells a special meaning of the devil with a systematic narrative in a special discourse. This research with a descriptive-analytical method, based on the application of action, expresses the transformation of the concept of Satan in the narration of the Torah, the Bible and the Holy Quran with a historical method (in time).

حوزههای تخصصی:
The study of topics related to religions, especially Abrahamic religions, has always been important and prioritized, particularly when these topics are examined in a comparative and interfaith manner. This research examines the character of Jesus Christ from the perspective of the Holy Quran and the four Gospels to determine whether divinity can be attributed to him or if, as the Holy Quran explicitly states, he was one of the great prophets of God. By analyzing the content of the four Gospels using content analysis methods, we concluded that none of these four Gospels, which are regarded as the official sources of Christianity, provide any evidence of divinity for him. Rather, he was a human, born of Mary by divine will and through the Holy Spirit, with his special mission being the guidance of the Children of Israel. Like other prophets, he performed numerous miracles, and his character possessed outstanding qualities that are also emphasized in the Holy Quran.
The Language of the Quran and the Bible about the Vision of God Almighty

Journal of Interreligious Studies on the Qur'an and the Bible, Vol. ۱, No. ۱, Spring and Summer ۲۰۲۴

حوزههای تخصصی:
In the text of the Holy Quran and the Bible, it is emphasized that God is invisible and cannot be seen by the eyes. There is a distinction in that while the Old Testament does not regard God as merely a mental entity, it acknowledges a direct presence of God in speaking to humans through specific verses and signs. The vision represented in the Quran is used to explain the perception of events and the manifestation of human actions on the Day of Judgment, whereas the vision in bodily form regarding seeing God exists in the Two Testaments. The language of the Holy Quran cannot be influenced by the language of the Bible, although there are similarities in some instances. Ultimately, despite the claims of the Bible regarding the invisibility of God, their descriptions often suggest a corporeal image. However, the Quran explicitly denies the embodiment and vision of God Almighty, and instances discussing sight are often interpreted as a denial of sight.
Equivalence Difficulties in Translating Conceptual Metaphors Case study: The word "Inda" in the Holy Quran(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
The Holy Quran has used the word "Inda" many times to convey its meanings. In its initial meaning, this word encodes the concept of "with", but in all cases, the use of this word is not limited to this meaning in the Quran, and being placed in different contexts, it shows news conceptual metaphors, amd in most verses, this word has the same meaning of "Inda". The present study descriptively-analytically examines the conceptual metaphors of the word "Inda" in the Holy Quran and its equivalent translations to determine the extent to which the translations of Fooladvand, Mousavi Hamedani, Khorramshahi, Elahi Qomshei are close to its metaphorical meaning. It is concluded that the selection of equal metaphorical concepts for "Inda" has been difficult for translators and it has been limited to conventional equivalent expression. Conceptual metaphors used by the word "Inda" in the Holy Quran include divine judgment, certainty/maintenance, knowledge, and ownership, from (assignment of lordship), proximity, Qurb (closeness), and Fi (in). By examining the translation of 23 verses of the research on the metaphorical meanings of the word "Inda", Khorramshahi’s translation has used more metaphorical concepts in translation than other translations.
Typology of Speech and Thought Representation in the Quranic Stories(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
This paper explores the typology of speech and thought representation in selected Quranic stories, utilizing narrative discourse to establish a theoretical and practical framework. It primarily focuses on renowned models such as Toolan (2001) and McHale's (1978) models, among others. After a thorough examination of these theoretical models, this paper aims to apply them using examples extracted from the Quranic stories. A notable finding suggests that the representation of speech and thought in the Quran ranges from a directly diegetic mode to an indirectly mimetic mode. This range contributes to the Quranic discourse being a vibrant and dynamic form of communication. The primary purpose of these aspects is to establish a dynamic and engaging interaction between the Quranic discourse and its audience. In general, the typology of speech and thought representation is closely linked to the oral nature of the Quranic discourse.
A Critical Study of the Sources of the Holy Quran and Its Origin from the Perspective of Orientalists(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
This research is based on the role of Orientalists in undermining the holy scriptures, specifically the Quran. Many of them have been prejudiced against the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and have greatly exaggerated their hostility towards the Prophet and the Quran. According to their claims, the Quran owes its existence to previous heavenly teachings and religions that preceded it. They argue that Muhammad (peace be upon him) relied on these sources to compose his book. McDonald said: "The Quran is not from God," followed by, Charles Wells (1838), who suggested, "Muhammad created the Quran." Le Bon did not stray far from the previous Orientalists, stating, "The Quran is from Muhammad and authored by him." They further claimed that the divine revelation has multiple sources, including the Torah, the Gospel, the Hanif religion, and pre-Islamic poetry or Muhammad's intellectual and literary genius, which they say contributed to the formulation of the Quran. This research will expand on the discussion of the sources of revelation, focusing on the influence of pre-Islamic poetry and the Jewish and Christian religions. Despite over fourteen hundred years since the Prophet's mission, discussions on this topic continue, and Islam remains subject to distortion. One of the important results of this research is that the Quran is divine; there are many pieces of evidence and testimonies to this effect. It is the final heavenly message, and naturally, it is closely connected with previous scriptures. The claims of Orientalists were born out of deep-seated animosity towards the Prophet and Islam. We used descriptive, historical, and analytical methods to evaluate these sources from the perspective of Orientalists. We then attempt, by referring to the verses of the Quran - this divine and superhuman miracle - and other authentic sources, to critique some of the biased and unrealistic views of the Orientalists and to respond to the misconceptions they presented regarding the sources of divine revelation, whether they claimed it to be from pre-Islamic literature, Judaism, or Christianity.
The Basis of a Right-Centeredness Approach and Its Principles in Organizational Communications According to the Quran(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)

حوزههای تخصصی:
Organizational communication is an important and pervasive topic that significantly impacts the resolution of internal conflicts and issues external to the organization. Communication connects the organization in such a way that without it, understanding, coordination, and collaboration within organizations become impossible. Since the foundations and principles of organizational communication in a religious society differ from those in a non-religious society, the present study aims to answer the questions of what constitutes the basis of a right-centered approach and how it plays a role in designing the principles of organizational communication from the perspective of the Quran, using a descriptive-analytical method. Various foundations and principles can be derived for organizational communications; however, this research is dedicated to the basis of a right-centered approach as one of the most fundamental bases. The findings indicated that the components making up the foundation of a right-centered approach include: The truth of God, the truth of religion, the truth of the impeccable Imams, the truth of angels, and the truth of the resurrection. These components guide individuals to adhere to the principles of truthfulness, truth-hearing, and truth-seeking.
Narcissism in Religion and Its Components Based on Psychological Foundations(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
Narcissism is an individual or group phenomenon in which individuals and groups become unhealthily enamored with them, perceiving themselves as superior to others. This condition has also infiltrated the realm of religion and spirituality, being recognized as one of the ills of religiosity. The present study aims to describe and explain religious narcissism and its components. It employs a descriptive-analytical method with a focus on the psychological foundations of narcissism to elucidate this phenomenon. The results indicate that it manifests in both religious individuals and groups or movements, leading them to issue reprimands and excommunications against others. The results demonstrate that despite its multiple components, the basis of the beliefs of the individual and the narcissistic religious movement centers around three core components: "Self-righteousness, absolutism, and exclusivism," which also encompass other components. Under the shadow of these three components—discussed in the psychology of narcissism under terms such as a sense of righteousness, superiority, self-centeredness, and exclusivity—narcissistic individuals and groups believe that in comparison to others, they are special and superior, that goodness is what they perceive it to be, and that evil is what they deny. They maintain an egocentric focus on themselves and their needs, convinced that everything is meant for them.
The Role and Position of the "Spirit (Rūḥ)" in the Process of Revelation(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
The significance of revelation and God's communication with divine prophets has long been a focus of Islamic researchers. However, what holds substantial importance in this context is the role and position of the spirit in the process of Quranic revelation. The present study aims to analyze the verses and traditions through a descriptive-analytical method and an ijtihadi approach, considering previous research, to decode the true essence of the spirit in Quranic culture. Based on the analyses conducted, the "Spirit (Rūḥ)" is a creation that transcends angels, possessing a high and exalted rank, which God has attributed to Himself as a mark of honor and to express His greatness. Furthermore, the primary objective of this paper is to explore the role of the spirit in the process of revelation. According to the reasons and arguments derived from the verses and traditions, in direct revelation, the beginning and end of the process of transferring revelation to the heart of the prophet is carried out by the spirit (Waḥyan). In God's communication with humanity through the intermediary of the messenger, the spirit initially receives the content from the Lord, and Gabriel transmits it from the spirit (Yursilu Rasūlan) to the heart of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is also possible that there are other intermediaries in the process of transferring revelation from the spirit to Gabriel.

حوزههای تخصصی:
The sense of success or failure is contingent on an individual's attitude toward themselves and their circumstances. One of the primary reasons for feelings of failure is comparing oneself to others without considering distinguishing factors. Happiness is a subjective concept and is primarily achieved through focusing on one's own possessions. In the Quranic culture, God advises humans to perceive the blessings and divine favors bestowed upon them. Undoubtedly, recognizing successes and opportunities fosters a sense of achievement. Accordingly, this research, employing a descriptive-analytical approach and content analysis, seeks to identify the relationship between recognizing blessings and mental well-being. The findings indicate that appreciating blessings and reinforcing this perception facilitates the attainment of serenity, which is a key component of mental health. Factors such as contemplation and reasoning, lack of sadness, self-esteem, an elevated lifestyle, realistic perspectives, absence of pride, and being devoted to remembrance are impacts of recognizing blessings on mental well-being.
Semantics of the concept of security in the Holy Qur'an with the approach of the Qur'an to the Qur'an commentary(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
Security is one of the social concepts that has been mentioned many times in the Holy Quran. This amount of reference to a concept in the Holy Quran shows the high importance of this concept. For this reason, the current research is aimed at analyzing the verses of the Holy Quran and using the method of interpreting the Quran to the Quran, to calculate the meaning of the concept of security in this divine source. The conducted studies show that a person needs to go through certain steps to reach the position of security. These steps are chained, and failure to fulfill any of them will result in not achieving the blessing of security. These stages include servitude and non-association with God, faith and righteous deeds, the position of divine caliph, the position of divine satisfaction, and finally attaining the position of security. Creating security in the society brings peace in that society and as a result, it brings that society to the position of closeness to God. Therefore, it is obligatory for the Islamic government to provide security and peace in the Islamic society and to provide the conditions for worshiping God.
A Comparative Study of the Concept of City and Urbanization in the Quran and the Bible

حوزههای تخصصی:
Today, the issue of urbanization has become a fundamental phenomenon of our time, and consequently, urban research and studies have expanded. However, it should be noted that the city and urbanization, albeit not in their current form, have a very long history. In past religions and faiths, the concept of the city and urban life has had special importance and validity, and especially in the sacred texts of religions, many verses and commandments have been mentioned in connection with this concept. There is no doubt that the approach of holy books in relation to the subject of urbanization plays a decisive role in shaping urban beliefs and thoughts among religious communities; because, these texts are considered the main and fundamental source of religions, and the thoughts and behaviors of followers are rooted in them. The present study addresses this issue and intends, while examining the views of the three great and ancient religions of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity according to their sacred and heavenly books, to analyze their views on urbanization. It also intends to compare the views of these three religions regarding the concept of urbanization. The results of this research show us that the concept of city and urbanization is evident in the heavenly books of all three Abrahamic religions, and many verses and commandments have been mentioned regarding it.
Criminal Mediation in the Quran, Old Testament, and Talmud

Journal of Interreligious Studies on the Qur'an and the Bible, Vol. ۱, No. ۲, autumn and winter ۲۰۲۴

حوزههای تخصصی:
Criminal mediation is a common theme among Muslims, Jews, and Christians. However, what similarities and differences exist regarding the mediator and their role, individual versus collective mediation, location, and scope? Are certain statements in their respective scriptures compatible with the belief in the inherent, active unity, and justice of God? The necessity of referring to the epistemological sources of religion, the Quran's call for common ground among religions (Ᾱli ʻImrān/64), and the value of clarification emphasized in the Quran (al-Zumar/18) underscore the importance of this topic. This research, employing a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizes comparative studies of the aforementioned religious texts. The results indicated that the only complete and independent otherworldly mediator is God. The simplicity of God's essence negates the concept of a son or multiplicity of divine beings. Certain statements in their scriptures require correction. Intercession does not negate the punishment of discrimination and injustice; rather, it specifically excludes violations of divine law and discrimination. This act is related to the divine attribute of mercy. While sharing commonalities such as divine mercy, the mediator's proximity, and the faith of those who benefit, otherworldly mediators also exhibit differences regarding the possibility or certainty of acceptance, whether the mediation is fundamental or supplementary, obstacles to intercession, the role of Sharia, and the scope of intercession in terms of the types of sins and the number of those saved.
A Critique of the Exegesis of Verse 24 of Surah al-Nisāʼ by Translators and Commentators: Permissibility of Marriage with Married Captive Women of Disbelievers(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
منبع:
پژوهشنامه معارف قرآنی (آفاق دین) سال ۱۶ بهار ۱۴۰۴ شماره ۶۰

حوزههای تخصصی:
The phrase "Illā mā Malakat Aymānukum (Except those your right hands possess)" in verse 24 of Surah al-Nisāʼ has been interpreted as permitting marriage with married captive women of disbelievers, as an exception to the prohibition of marriage with married women. The fundamental question is whether this translation, exegesis, and understanding of the mentioned verse has Quranic and historical support. The present study, using documentary and descriptive-analytical methods, aims to examine and clarifies the answer to this question in the verses of the Quran and historical reports, and arrives at the following findings: 1) The text and context of the Quranic verses regarding war and combat do not support such an interpretation; 2) There is no indication that "Except those your right hands possess" refers to prisoners of war; 3) Historical reports do not support the narratives cited by commentators; 4) Explicit rules regarding the treatment of prisoners of war in the Quran do not support this interpretation; 5) Considering the efforts of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) towards the liberation of existing slaves in society, enslaving prisoners is contrary to this ethical practice of the Prophet (PBUH). The history of the Prophet's (PBUH) era can create a fundamental change in the understanding of the verse that forms the basis of its interpretation. These types of translations and interpretations may have a post-analytical basis and be influenced by the era of Islamic conquests
Analyzing the Contextual Relationship between Science and the Quran in Establishing Islamic Human Sciences(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
One of the most critical and challenging issues regarding revealed human sciences and the comprehensiveness of Quranic teachings is the possibility of an Islamic human science in terms of Quranic content. Examining the content and issues of the Quran and science can be done with various purposes, but the present study, using a descriptive-analytical method, aims to answer the doubt about the impossibility of revealed human science. The results indicated that different views exist in this area. Some, assuming that religious issues and, consequently, Quranic teachings are separate from human science issues, believe that the relationship between them is one of contradiction. Others accept contextual overlap but consider the relationship to be one of opposition. A third view argues that their relationship is one of agreement, but the instances of agreement are minimal, making the realization of revealed human science impossible. According to these theories, a revealed human science is fundamentally impossible. Therefore, each of these theories represents a fundamental question and underlying doubt in this arena, and until these are answered, talking about such a science that can be both human and revealed is not logical. The finding of this paper is to address the fundamental flaws of the aforementioned three views as competing viewpoints and to prove the possibility of revealed human sciences as the chosen viewpoint, which we will address with an interpretative approach and a library-based method.
