Audit Quality
حوزههای تخصصی:
This study examines the association between auditor type (public versus private) and earnings quality as measured by the levels of discretionary accruals in Iran. This study hypothesize that there is no significant difference in discretionary accruals between public and private sector audit firms when there is low incentives for auditors to provide high-quality audits in Iran. Using a sample of listed firms in the Tehran Stock Exchange from 1998-2003 (1378-1383)، this study finds that there is no significant difference between discretionary accruals of firms with a public sector auditor and firms with a private sector auditor. This result implies that there may be no significant difference in audit quality between public and private sector audits. Partitioning the sample into sub-periods to examine the effect of increased competition، as a result of establishing the Iranian Certified Public Accountants (ICPA) in 2001(1381)، on audit quality، this study finds some evidences of an increase in the levels of discretionary accruals of firms with a public sector auditor. This is consistent with the argument that increased competition in the audit market which may reduce the quality of audits.

حوزههای تخصصی:
Audit market concentration causes to decrease the scope of companies' au-thorities for selecting the audit institutions but instead it increases the power of auditors' market that it turns, leads to a decrease in quality and an increase in auditors' stress. The purpose of the present research is to study the effect of audit market concentration on auditors's job stress and audit quality of Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) Listed Companies performed on a total of 97 companies between the years of 2013-2017. In order to evaluate the audit market concentration, the ratio of company's audit fees to total industry audit fees was used. The Accruals Quality model was also used to evaluate the audit quality. The results of the study showed that the audit market concentration had a negative and significant effect on the audit quality so that with the increase in audit market concentration, the audit quality is decreased. Also it was found that the audit market concentration had a posi-tive and significant effect on the auditors' job stress: it means that the in-crease of concentration on audit market as a result of time pressure can in-crease the auditors' job stress and thus the risk of financial statement assess-ment.

حوزههای تخصصی:
The purpose of this paper is to focus on examining the impact of conservatism on IPOs underpricing and then examine the role of audit quality as a moderating variable in the relationship between conservatism and IPOs. Based on financial-behavioral theories, analyses are conducted of data from a sample of Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) listed companies for the fiscal years 2008–2017 (i.e. 230 firm-year observations). Correlation and regression analyses are performed to evaluate possible associations between conservatism and initial public offerings (IPOs) underpricing with regard to audit quality. There is a negative significant relationship between conservatism and IPOs underpricing, i.e., it reduces IPOs underpricing. Also, the research results indicated that the auditing quality cannot moderate the relationship between conservatism and IPOs underpricing in Iran’s stock market. This conclusion may be explained under the winner’s curse theory. Accordingly, informed investors do not request to purchase unattractive stocks, and uninformed investors demand and obtain all the unattractive stocks since there is no competition between informed and uninformed investors. A limitation of this paper is the number of firms, which for future studies needs to be considered. This research is expected to contribute comprehensively to expanding the theoretical foundations and increase audience knowledge of the underpricing of initial public offerings (IPOs). It is also expected that the results of the study will: 1. determine the underpricing of IPOs in Iran during the research period; 2. document the role of conservatism in reducing underpricing of IPOs; 3. potentially prevent inappropriate pricing of new stocks. Furthermore, the findings of this study suggest that the application of financial-behavioral theories calls for more inquiry.

Audit Quality and Earnings Management Based on Loan Loss Provisions: Evidence from Iranian Capital Market Banks
حوزههای تخصصی:
This study investigates the relationship between audit quality and earnings management, based on Loan Loss Provisions(LLPs), in 15 active banks listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange from 2010 to 2024. By analyzing data from these sample banks, this study evaluates the impact of various factors on Earnings Management Practices(EMP), including audit firm size, auditor tenure, and auditor specialization in the banking industry. The results indicate a significantly negative relationship between audit firm size and earnings management, suggesting that banks audited by larger firms are less likely to engage in earnings manipulation. Conversely, a positive and significant relationship was found between auditor tenure and earnings management, implying that prolongedauditor-client relationships may lead to a decline in auditor independence, thereby facilitating earnings management. Additionally, auditors with specialized knowledge in the banking sector demonstrate a greater ability to detect and mitigate opportunistic earnings management behaviors, contributing to a reduction in earnings manipulation within these banks

حوزههای تخصصی:
Objectives: This research examines the relationship between environmental, social, and governance scores and dividend distribution decisions of companies, taking into account the moderating role of financial audit quality to ensure sustainability. Design/methodology/approach: This research is applied, with a causal correlation methodology. Despite limitations, a sample of 152 firms was selected for the years 2018-2022. Multivariate linear regression based on panel data was used to test the research hypotheses. Results: Panel regression analyses reveal a positive and significant correlation between ESG scores and dividend payouts. This suggests that companies with strong environmental, social, and governance practices prioritize stakeholders and shareholders, maintaining dividend payments. However, companies that prioritize high-quality ESG practices experience slower dividend growth. Additionally, audit quality negatively moderates the relationship between ESG scores and dividend payouts, particularly for companies audited by A-rated firms. Quality assurance of ESG factors did not yield statistically significant results. Innovation: The findings have implications for investors, management, analysts, and policymakers, offering valuable insights for companies looking to enhance their sustainability practices.
