Intercultural communication is concerned with communication across cultures. Since cultures as well as languages differ from one another in significant ways, speakers conceptualize the world around them in different ways. These cultural conceptualizations form part of the collective cognition of a speech community or cultural group. This paper is an attempt to delineate some cultural schemas in Persian cultural conceptualization which are quite prevalent in Iranian culture and language which may crop up in everyday conversations. For this purpose, cultural schemas of 'maram', 'marefat', and 'gheyrat' are selected based on their frequent use in Persian language and Iranian culture. These schemas are elaborated and some implications for L2 learning are suggested.

حوزههای تخصصی:
Scholarly mails apparently display stable conventional principles as an emerging genre. Thus, contributors should structure their electronic mails appropriately when writing for purposes of discussing professional topics. However, this requirement plunges many a scholar in dilemma as to how to go about this vital undertaking without written structural norms in electronic mail communication. This raises the question: what is the generic structure of the scholarly electronic mail? The aim of this paper therefore is to uncover the organizational structure of the scholarly electronic mail as an emerging genre of computer mediated discourse. A qualitative approach is adopted in the description of the generic structure. Through purposive and stratified sampling, twenty scholarly electronic mails were selected and closely studied based on the basic electronic schema model by Herring (1996) with a view to extracting the features of the genre. Findings revealed that the scholarly electronic mail has a generic structure which is signalled by typical linguistic elements. The paper recommends a genre-based approach to guiding upcoming scholars on how to construct a scholarly electronic mail that fulfils its communicative purposes.

In Kant and the Problem of Metaphysics (KPM), Heidegger shows how the initial image-making power of the imagination is pictorial in the pure image of time. He further clarifies the recognized link between the syntheses and the time-visualizing power of images which is pictorial formative power, which can visualize time. The three syntheses of imagination are replaced with the modes of existence of Dasein. Three kinds of photographs resemble the images produced when the transcendental imagination functions as Dasein. We can address the ways to visualize time by considering Dasein with a photographic preoccupation through 1. A possible look in the form of presentation (a photograph shows an immediate look of a house or person as intuitable this-here); 2. An immediate look of the thing, house, or deceased person, as well as a copy or its reproduction as a death mask; and, 3. The manner of contemplation of a likeness is an immediate look of a being present in the form of representation.

In the present study, we attempted to specify the constructional schemas relevant to the compounds made by the present stem ‘sāz’ in Persian within the framework of the construction morphology (Booij, 2010). To this end, 150 compounds were brought together from numerous sources, such as the Persian Corpus of Bijankhan, Persian novels as well as some Persian websites. Having collected the data, we tabulated and categorized them on the basis of the preverbal elements. Afterwards, a comparison was made, as a result of which it was indicated that there can be a general constructional schema inside which 5 sub-schemas can be placed. Certainly, the broad schema denotes the construction by which a noun (preverbal element) is combined with the verbal element (present stem sāz) to create an adjective that implies the agent of an action, namely the agent of building or making an object. However, there were two exceptions among the whole dataset: a compound in spite of resembling the other compounds regarding its construction denotes the semantic role of patient: dastsāz (handmade), referring to an object which is made by hands as well as the compound ʤāsāz (embedded object), whereas in other compounds, the stem means the agent that builds, creates or makes. Consequently, as might be expected, two broad constructional schemas have been obtained: one relevant to the agents and the other relevant to patients.
The Effectiveness of Schema-Based Parenting Training on Parenting Stress, and Parent-Child Interaction Quality in Mothers of Children Aged 4 to 12 Years(مقاله علمی وزارت علوم)
حوزههای تخصصی:
Objective: The present study aims to determine the effectiveness of schema-based parenting training on parenting stress, and the quality of parent-child interactions among mothers of children aged 4 to 12 years. Methods: This research is applied in nature and semi-experimental with a pre-test, post-test, and one-month follow-up design with a control group. The statistical population included mothers of children aged 4 to 12 years who visited counseling centers in District 1 of Tehran. From this population, 45 individuals were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to two groups of 15 (schema-based parenting training and control group). Data were collected using the Pianta Parent-Child Interaction (1994) and the Abidin Parenting Stress Index (1984). Schema-based parenting training, which encompasses educational topics, was delivered to the mothers in 8 weekly sessions, each lasting 90 minutes. For data analysis, which involved two experimental groups and one control group across three time points, a mixed ANOVA with repeated measures was utilized, and the data were analyzed using SPSS 25 software. Findings: The results showed that schema-based parenting training significantly affected parenting stress symptoms (F=30.383, P=0.001, η²=0.52) and the quality of parenting interactions (F=7.057, P=0.002, η²=0.201). Conclusion: It can be concluded that schema-based parenting training effectively reduces parental stress symptoms, and the persistence of the training effect during the follow-up phase indicates the intervention's lasting impact on parental stress.
